Dr Judy Pate (MA, MSc, PhD)

Head of Strategy Judy has a unique blend of academic and practitioner expertise. She worked at the University of Glasgow for 15 years as a senior lecturer in Strategy and Management. Judy has secured a significant number of grants from public, private and charitable organisations to pursue her academic research interests. In addition, recognition of her research contribution was evidenced by the award of Advanced Institute of Management Research (AIM) scholar and invitation to join a research team from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In conjunction with her academic career, Judy has been instrumental in creating the five-star 14-suite hotel, Glencoe House, with her husband, Roger Niemeyer. Judy’s specific contributions and responsibilities included: strategic business analysis, securing a significant Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) grant and becoming one of the selected few HIE managed businesses, budgeting and forecasting, human resources management, on-going development of the website and online presence, managing on-line reviews and on-line travel agents (OTA) performance. The success of the hotel can be measured by the consistently outstanding guest reviews. For example on Tripadvisor, Glencoe House enjoyed 93% of reviews at 5-star level and thereby securing the number 1 position for all luxury hotels in Scotland (as of September 2019 when Alliance Hotels Consultants Ltd. and Glencoe House were sold to Perle Hotels Ltd.)
